Uri, Aug 22 (JKNS): As part of its continued efforts towards welfare of local population under Operation Sadbhavna, the Indian Army organised a Medical and Veterinary Assistance Camp at Salamabad, Uri on August 22, 2026.
The initiative was aimed at providing free healthcare services to local residents and veterinary assistance to livestock, which remains an important source of livelihood for households in the region.
The camp was conducted by the Regimental Medical Officer, Bajrang Battalion, along with Veterinary Officer 9 MFVH and Dr Mohd Naiem and Dr Jabeen (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), assisted by nursing assistants, veterinary pharmacists and support staff.
During the medical camp, the team provided free health consultations, clinical examinations, medicines and health awareness sessions focusing on preventive healthcare, maternal and child health, hygiene, nutrition and disease prevention.
A total of 234 patients availed medical assistance, including 133 men, 74 ladies and 27 children.
Simultaneously, the veterinary team provided medical assistance to 387 animals, including 123 cattle, 118 goats/sheep, 138 poultry and eight horses/ponies.
The camp received an enthusiastic response from the local population. Villagers expressed their appreciation for the timely medical and veterinary assistance and acknowledged the Indian Army’s continued efforts towards community welfare in remote areas.
The outreach programme further reinforced the spirit of trust, cooperation and mutual support between the Indian Army and the local population. (JKNS)
