Kulgam, Aug 31: Alleged encroachment upon government land belonging to Government Higher Secondary School, Waltangoo Kund, has raised concern among locals, with questions being raised over the alleged encroachment and the need for prompt administrative intervention.
According to sources, two persons, both reportedly government employees, are allegedly involved in encroaching upon the school land. It has also been alleged that a JCB was used during night hours and that a cement cell/structure belonging to the school was damaged.
The matter has reportedly been brought to the notice of the district administration, with a written communication forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, seeking necessary action.
Locals have urged the administration to conduct a thorough inquiry, verify the school’s land records and take appropriate action against anyone found responsible.
When contacted, Principal Government Higher Secondary School, Waltangoo, Aijaz Ahmad, said that he had already taken cognizance of the matter and served a notice upon the alleged encroachers.
“Naib Tehsildar also visited the site and served a notice to the encroachers. Strict action will be taken against them,” he said.
