New York, Sept 26 (JKNS): India’s First Secretary at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Petal Gahlot, said that Jammu and Kashmir is an “integral and inalienable” part of India and will always remain so.
Addressing the United Nations, as per news agency JKNS, Gahlot said references had been made to the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, while urging attention towards Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
“But if we must talk about Kashmir, let us turn our attention to the Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Ask the people of Rawalkot about the wanton killings, the brutal violence and the denial of basic rights that they have long experienced,” she said.
India’s Permanent Mission to the UN has previously reiterated its position on Jammu and Kashmir while responding to references made by Pakistan at international forums.
Recent reports have also documented protests and allegations of civilian deaths and restrictions in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including in Rawalakot. (JKNS)
