Srinagar, Nov 6 (JKNS): Amid growing differences within the National Conference, party MLA Bashir Veeri on Friday indicated that the concerns and demands raised by dissenting legislators were being taken up for resolution, asserting that some issues could be addressed immediately while others might require more time.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the legislators with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah at his residence, as per news agency JKNS, MLA Veeri said the discussions centred on demands and expectations of the MLAs and expressed hope for visible progress in the coming days.

“Some demands will be accepted immediately, while some may take time,” he said, adding that the outcome of the discussions would become clear shortly.

On the demand for a more aggressive pursuit of the restoration of Article 370 and other rights taken away in 2019, Veeri said the party leadership had already conveyed its commitment to pursuing the agenda.

He maintained that the National Conference leadership had not backed away from its position on the restoration of Article 370 and related rights.

Asked about the ultimatum reportedly issued by the legislators and the timeline for fulfilling their demands, Veeri referred to earlier discussions on improving the party’s functioning and implementing commitments made during the election campaign.

Responding to concerns over legislators facing difficulties in getting their work done and accessing ministers, he expressed hope for improvement, saying that positive developments would be visible in the coming days.

“Definitely, you will see in the coming days,” Veeri said. (JKNS)
