Srinagar, Apr 29 (JKNS): Residents of Mir Abad area in Batmaloo on Wednesday staged a protest against acute water shortage, with women taking to the streets and blocking the busy Batmaloo-Tengpora main road, demanding immediate restoration of water supply.

As per news agency JKNS, the protesters, mostly women, alleged that the locality has been facing severe water scarcity for the past several days, forcing them to suffer immense hardship in managing daily household needs.

“We have not received water for many days. How are we supposed to manage our homes and children?” a protesting woman said.

Another resident said, “We are compelled to come on roads as authorities have failed to address our genuine issue. This is not the first time we are facing such a crisis.”

The protesters raised slogans against the concerned department and demanded urgent intervention from the authorities to restore regular water supply in the area.

Locals urged and appealed to authorities to intervene so that issue is solved at the earliest. (JKNS)
