Karnah, May 19 (JKNS): In a significant outreach initiative aimed at strengthening the enduring relationship between the Indian Army and its veterans, a warm and interactive meet with the Ex-Servicemen of Karnah was organized today by the Commander of the Shakti Vijay Brigade Shri Dharminder.
The event served as a meaningful platform for dialogue, appreciation, and discussion on issues concerning the welfare and well-being of retired soldiers and their families.
The interaction witnessed the participation of a large number of Ex-Servicemen from different villages and areas of Karnah, along with Veer Naris and representatives associated with veteran welfare activities.
The atmosphere during the gathering was marked by mutual respect, patriotism, and emotional connection, reflecting the unbreakable bond shared between serving soldiers and those who once dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation.
Addressing the gathering, the Commander of Shakti Vijay Brigade paid rich tributes to the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of the Ex-Servicemen, acknowledging their immense contribution towards the security and integrity of the country.
He emphasized that the Army deeply values the role played by veterans not only during their years of active service but also in shaping society after retirement.
The Commander encouraged the veterans to continue serving the nation in new capacities by guiding and mentoring the younger generation.
Stressing the importance of social responsibility, he urged the Ex-Servicemen to actively contribute towards promoting communal harmony, discipline, patriotism, and awareness among the youth, especially in border areas like Karnah where their experience and leadership can play a transformative role.
During the interaction, several important welfare-related concerns of the veterans were discussed in detail.
The Ex-Servicemen highlighted the need for improved and more accessible facilities under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), particularly in remote regions where medical infrastructure remains limited. They also raised the issue of wider recognition and acceptance of Ex-Servicemen Identity Cards at various institutions and service centers to ensure smoother access to facilities and entitlements.
The Ex-Servicemen, in turn, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Shakti Vijay Brigade for consistently standing by veterans, Veer Naris, and their families through various welfare initiatives and support programs. Many participants appreciated the Army’s efforts in maintaining regular contact with veterans and addressing their concerns with sincerity and compassion.
Several veterans described the interaction as a reassuring and motivating experience, stating that such initiatives strengthen trust and foster a sense of belonging among retired soldiers.
