Srinagar, May 21 (JKNS): Several parts of Kashmir, including Srinagar, witnessed heavy rainfall late Wednesday night, while fresh snowfall was reported at Zero Point Zojila, bringing a sharp dip in temperature across the Valley.
Reports reaching news agency JKNS stated that, rainfall started late Wednesday night which is continuing across Kashmir, while Zojila is witnessing snowfall from early morning hours.
Amid the intense rainfall, a flash flood-like situation occurred near Darul Uloom Rahimiya on the Srinagar-Bandipora road in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district after water and mud entered multiple residential houses, causing damage and injuries, reports said.
Officials told JKNS that two houses, suffered partial damage due to the flooding.
Two persons, identified as Muskaan and a minor, sustained minor injuries in the incident. One of the injured was discharged after first aid, while the other was undergoing treatment at District Hospital Bandipora, officials said.
The affected residents demanded immediate compensation for the damaged properties, repair of the affected road and construction of a proper protection wall to prevent future incidents.
Officials said that, restoration teams had been deputed and necessary work was underway. (JKNS)
