Srinagar, May 21 (JKNS): A high-level Indian Armed Forces delegation led by Lieutenant General Pushpendra Pal Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, participated in the prestigious Special Operations Forces (SOF) Week 2026 held in Tampa, Florida, USA from May 18 to 21, marking India’s expanding role in global defence cooperation and special operations engagement.
As per details available with news agency JKNS, SOF Week 2026 was jointly sponsored by the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and the Global SOF Foundation and witnessed participation of over 28,000 attendees, more than 850 exhibitors and representatives from over 70 countries.
During the event, the Indian delegation held strategic engagements and bilateral interactions with senior Special Operations commanders from partner nations besides observing advanced military capability demonstrations and defence industry exhibitions.
In a significant first for the Indian Army, a dedicated capability demonstration team also participated in CAPEX, the flagship capability demonstration event of SOF Week.
The 2026 USSOCOM Capability Demonstration titled “Battle in the Bay” was conducted at the Tampa waterfront on May 20 and featured Special Operations Forces from the United States along with contingents from ten partner nations in a live integrated operational environment.
India’s debut participation showcased the operational capabilities of Indian Special Forces in areas including counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, high-altitude operations and jungle warfare.
India’s participation at SOF Week 2026 reflects the country’s growing stature as a reliable global security partner and highlights its commitment towards strengthening international Special Operations cooperation, interoperability and capability development. (JKNS)
