Samba, June 6 (JKNS): In a major disciplinary action underscoring a zero-tolerance approach towards alleged lapses in handling crimes against children, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Anuj Kumar, has ordered the suspension of four police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ramgarh Police Station, over allegations of facilitating a compromise in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Sources told news agency JKNS, Inspector Bhopinder Singh, SHO Ramgarh, along with a PSI and two ASIs, has been placed under suspension and attached to the District Police Lines (DPL), Samba, pending the outcome of a departmental inquiry.

The SSP has also ordered a detailed investigation into the allegations to establish the facts and determine accountability in the handling of the sensitive case, sources said.

As part of the administrative reshuffle, Inspector Ajay Singh Chib has been posted as the new SHO of Ramgarh Police Station.

In a related development, a Special Police Officer (SPO) has also been transferred to Goran Police Chowki.

The action follows complaints regarding the manner in which the POCSO case was allegedly handled, prompting the district police leadership to initiate immediate corrective measures and an internal probe.

They said the inquiry will examine all aspects of the allegations and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings. (JKNS)
