Srinagar, Aug 23 (JKNS): A man died after falling from a hillside while cutting a tree in the Upper Mohura area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on Sunday, with his body later retrieved from a nalla during a joint rescue operation.
Officials told news agency JKNS that, the deceased has been identified as Aziz Tantray, son of Subhan Tantray, a resident of Upper Mohura, officials said.
Tantray fell a considerable distance down the hillside while cutting a tree and died on the spot.
Police had earlier located the body with the assistance of a drone, while recovery was initially rendered difficult due to the terrain.
Subsequently, a joint team comprising Civil Defence Uri, SDRF Baramulla, Police, Army and local residents launched the recovery operation and retrieved the body.
Police said further proceedings in connection with the incident have been initiated. (JKNS)
