Pattan, May 5 (JKNS): A rally aimed at combating drug abuse was organized in Tehsil Pattan under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan, with active participation from chemists and distributors in collaboration with the Drug Control Department and Pattan Police.
The rally commenced from Community Health Centre (CHC) Pattan and culminated at Pandov Park, drawing significant participation from officials, civil society members, and media representatives.
Prominent officials present on the occasion included Assistant Drugs Controller North Kashmir Dr. Zaffar Ahmad Bhat, SDPO Raja Majid, SHO Mudasir Ahmad, and Drug Control Officer for Pattan, Tangmarg, and Kreeri Wagoora, Yousuf Mohiuddin Sumji.
Participants raised awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and stressed the importance of collective efforts to curb the growing menace. Local residents appreciated the initiative, acknowledging the role of authorities and stakeholders in spreading awareness.
Officials from the Drug Control Department reiterated their commitment to continue such drives in the future and issued a stern warning against violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, emphasizing strict legal action against offenders.
Following the rally, an awareness programme was held at Pandov Park, where officials addressed chemists and distributors, underlining their crucial responsibility in preventing the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.
All chemists and distributors from Tehsil Pattan actively participated in both the rally and the subsequent awareness session, marking a united stand against drug abuse in the region. (JKNS)
