Srinagar, May 23 (JKNS): National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday urged people to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha with humility and simplicity in view of the prevailing global uncertainty and tensions in the Middle East.
Farooq Abdullah, as per news agency JKNS, made the remarks after paying obeisance at the shrine of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA) in Srinagar’s Khankah-e-Moula area.
Speaking to reporters, Abdullah extended Eid greetings to the people and appealed for prayers for global peace, particularly amid rising tensions between Iran and the United States.
“I appeal to the people to celebrate Eid with humility and simplicity keeping in view the situation prevailing in the world. Only Almighty knows what lies ahead in the coming days. We should pray that the tensions between Iran and the US end and peace prevails everywhere because peace is the biggest thing,” Abdullah said.
The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said he prayed at the revered shrine for peace, communal harmony and brotherhood across the country and the world.
“I prayed that peace returns across the world and people live together with love and brotherhood. May Almighty end the poison of hatred spreading across the country so that people move forward united and peacefully,” he added. (JKNS)
